Life is Good Childhood Scrapbook Page

A few years ago, I recieved several childhood photos from my mom with my brother and I. Several of the photos are on polaroids which I took them to Sam's Club and had them turned into 4"x6" pictures, not only to save the disappearing images but to make copies for my siblings, parents and others. I loved seeing this photo of my brother and I sleeping. Life was good back then, and worry free.

Great Grandma's Childhood Scrapbook Page

A few years ago, I decided to create a special scrapbook for my in-law's 35th Wedding Anniversary. Almost 8 months before the Anniversary, I typed up a letter for family members, friends, and co-workers, to send in copies of pictures they wanted included, letters of memories with my in-laws, grandchildren's artwork, and much more. I got a huge response which ended up in 4 scrapbooks each with about 50 pages. It was a wonderful experience to thumb through the many older photos. My husband's grandma Rita, sent in a picture of her as a little girl. I loved the photo so much that I knew this picture commanded a certain attention to details. I used glittered chipboard for the letters in her name, a scrapbook page from DCWV Once Upon A Time 12"x12" paper stack. I used paper flowers from that line along with some sparkly bling. I used some square brads for her last name. I think this has to be one of my all time favorite scrapbook pages. I not only made this copy for my in-laws, I made one for my own book so that my children could see childhood photos of their great-grandmother.

Know Where You Are Going 2 Page Scrapbook Map Layout

I purchased a DCWV PhotoMat 12"x12" paper which included all sorts of paper designs. One of the pages was of a vintage looking map of the world. I tore parts of the map to created the 2 page layout. I found paper Kraft photo corners to give the page a little more rustic and aged look. I added some images and flower primas to add some dimension to the pages. I plan on using these 2 pages for my step-dad's Navy Scrapbook.

Soft Muted Heritage Themed Scrapbook Pages

Before I knew there was a "term" for the type of scrapbooking I truly enjoyed doing what I learned was "Heritage scrapbooking." Basically I would create pages and LO's that would be for older childhood photos, pages for grandparents, and other older memories. I like the soft muted tones that often are found in older pictures, inks, and from a time when life seemed easier and more peaceful.

My Mother, My Friend Heritage Scrapbook Page

This is one of my favorite scrapbook pages of my mother and me. I took a small picture of us and made it larger. I used several K& Company stickers and Anna Griffin Paper. I thought that it was clever to use the stickers to put the phrase "My Mother, My Friend" a little on the picture and some on the page. Mother, I love you so much!

Grandma Brown's Childhood Heritage Scrapbook Page

When I recieved this picture of my Grandma Brown as a child holding her large doll and cuddling her favorite doggy, I decided a black, white and silver them was befitting to the page. I used Cat's Eye Chestnut Roan to distress the edges of the white page. I found silver glittery Chipboard letters at a local craft store, and then wrote a little note above the picture entitiled "To be Young Again." Grandma loved looking at this page when she came to visit.

WWII Vintage Military Dedication Page

A few years ago I acquired several family photos from my husbands side of the family. When I saw this picture of JT Stovall (my husband was named with the letters JT in the name: Joshua Thomas) I knew I needed to do something really special. I was able to find some vintage money that I used in the upper right hand corner of the page. I found some old postage stamps, Military Pride, stickers and Typewriter Key stickers.

50 Years Together Anniversary Page

Growing up, I did not live near many family members and so I was very close to my Grandma and Grandpa Brown. I wanted to make them a special page which paid homage and respect for their love and devotion and for being married over 50 years.

Vintage Heritage Mother's Day Page

With my love of vintage items, I decided to create a heritage Page dedicated to my  mom. I used a Mother pin from the 1920's which you will see right above the rose on the lower right. I found a really neat poem and typed it out with a vintage looking font. This is one of my favorite pages.

Remembering Our Past

          Scrapbooking has truly given me a new appreciation for human life and those before mine. Recently, I created a “Heritage” (1) scrapbook page of my husband’s Grandfather who served our country proud. He is a true American Hero. You don’t need much to make your page pop and appear like a piece of art. After going to a few tag sales, estates sales and the like, I found military buttons, Peru money, and all sorts of other goodies that would give the page the respect that it demanded. Along with the Jolee’s Army brand line of stickers, my page was brought to life. I could almost imagine the setting he was placed in. I could hear missiles and the planes flying above his head. After receiving these photos I sat and looked at them over and over again and knew that this was going to be a treasured Heritage page. Even though, I never knew him, he still existed and fought for our freedom. For the Military families around the world, our heart remains with you. How nice would it be, if you had a child in the military that you placed their photos in a special scrapbook to chronicle how special their lives are?

You may think it is not possible to do a heritage album without possessing generations of family photographs. Not only is it possible, it is very desirable to assemble other materials to craft a heritage album that not only contains old photos but also information about the family history, culture, and the traditions of one's ancestors not easily captured in photographs.
